A MASSIF Effort to Determine the Mass-Luminosity Relationship

Robert T Rood
Department of Astronomy

I will carry out work described for related to and in connection with the discovery and the establishing of the proximity of nearby star candidates in the Southern Hemisphere. In particular I will contribute to the data pipeline, modeling observations of star fields relevant to SIM observations in the context of the number of reference stars, number of CCD frames required, and brightness of the target stars to reach final astrometric precision goals, as well as similar issues regarding refraction corrections crucial to getting high quality parallaxes. As needed I will also carry out observations of parallax targets for astrometry and photometry.
