Department of Neuroscience

Established in 1986 as the sixth basic science department in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia, the mission of the department is to serve as the focus of neuroscience education and research within the School of Medicine. Functions of the nervous system in health and disease and their relationships to behavior are topics addressed in the department's research. This department offers both pre and posdoctoral training as described in our Training section.
